Pre School The objectives of the Julia International School Pre School are to help children develop the social skills needed to work and play with others, to assist them in becoming confident and secure in their individuality, and to give them a thorough educational grounding in preparation for the years of schooling ahead.The Pre School accommodates children aged 18 months−4 years, and parents can choose how many days they would like their child to attend each week, from between 1 to 5 days, as best suits the child’s situation and needs. The small sized classes enable the children to naturally develop their independence and their interactive skills through various types of play activities. We also take great care to encourage and nurture the individuality and unique character of each child.In classes where only English is used, we provide a broad curriculum, which includes English reading, writing, listening, and speaking practice, arts and crafts to help develop the imaginative and creative faculties, basic numerical skills, physical exercise, learning French, and a variety of other activities. These all combine to give the children a solid platform upon which to build their lives and future education. We encourage the parents to play a participative role by joining in with a number of monthly outdoor activities, including excursions, picnics and horse riding.The School holds individual counselling sessions with parents regarding the progress of their child, and advises what future courses and study plan are best suited to meet the needs of their child. We also offer special Infant and Japanese language classes focussed on preparing children for entry into kindergarten.The Julia International School Pre School provides a well-balanced education package for children who are at a critical point in their development. Kindergarten Kindergarten at the Julia International School is designed to give children the abilities to think freely and creatively, to express themselves with confidence, and to make interpretive and judgemental decisions.Kindergarten caters for children aged 3 ~6 years, who will attend lessons that are held between 09:30~15:00, Monday to Friday. The small class size (maximum 10 children) ensures every child in the class receives personal attention from the teacher, and has their progress individually monitored. This allows the teacher to quickly address any weaknesses that may become apparent, or increase the pace of the program for those children who are quick learners. In this way the children remain motivated, and rapidly acquire basic language and reasoning skills. The children are encouraged to learn through experience and experimentation, to understand that making mistakes is often the best way to learn, and most importantly to appreciate learning as a fun and enjoyable activity. The result is a child who is confident, independent in his or her thinking, and has an exceptional ability to communicate.The course content is primarily structured around English (listening, reading, writing, speaking), mathematics, computer usage, music, French, arts & crafts, cookery, and outdoor activities. In addition, the celebration of birthdays and seasonal events, such as Halloween and Christmas, introduce occasions of fun, excitement, and spontaneity into the daily school routine. The Julia International School Kindergarten course will ensure that not only is your child fully prepared for entry into primary school, but that he or she will have the additional benefits of a better understanding and respect for different cultures and customs, and the confidence and ability to realize their full potential in the school years ahead. After School The main goals of the Julia International School After School course is to help children better express themselves, and to develop their English skills to a level where communication is both natural and effortless. The After School program is available for children aged 3−6 years, and for children under the age of 3 years who are attending the Pre School course. We strongly recommend that After School students also attend both our Kindergarten and English School, in order to derive the maximum possible benefit from the After School course. The small sized classes are conducted only in English, fully immersing the students in the language and culture of English. Although proficiency in English is a key goal, the students also learn to be assertive and to express their opinions and ideas in a succinct and effective manner. These qualities will give them a head start in life, and provide them with a set of skills that will stand them in good stead throughout their lives.The lessons are typically two hours long, and cover the subjects of English, mathematics and science. The students also have the opportunity to learn how to cook, and a variety of extracurricular lessons and activities will be regularly held.We welcome the attendance of native English speakers and home-coming students from abroad, and guarantee that all students will receive a level of education that is both challenging and exacting, including those who join with an already high English linguistic standard. English School This class is held on Tuesdays and Fridays (17:30−18:30), and is targeted at children aged from 6 to 15 years of age. The objective of the course is to train students to speak, read, and write English with fluency and confidence. Conversation and grammar is taught from a basic level, and exercises are tailored to address the individual needs of each student. Active verbal communication is encouraged, to help the students put into practice what they have learnt. After extended study, the students are expected to have acquired all the essential English skills required to communicate with other English speakers in an assured manner. * Private lessons and French classes are also available.
