Julia International School was established on 1 September, 2004. The school is conveniently located in front of Shinozaki station, on the Toei Shinjuku Line in Edogawa-ku, close to the wide green banks of the Edo River.The school was founded in the belief that the children of today will grow up to become adults in a borderless world, and they will need to have the skills and capability of interacting with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds. Communication abilities are a fundamental prerequisite for the truly cosmopolitan person who can play a leading part in this new world, and English is the de facto international language that connects people across the globe.The Julia International School recognizes that a child’s ability to learn English is strongly influenced by both study method and the age at which the child begins to learn. Ideally, beginning from age zero, a child would be exposed to both English and their own language under the guidance of native speakers. However, it is very easy to fall into the trap of believing that simply having the ability to speak English enables you to successfully communicate with people from other countries. In reality, English is just one of the proficiencies necessary for effective interaction, albeit the most important. A respect and understanding of customs, an awareness of different behaviour and thinking, and an open mind are all requirements if communication is going to be successful and rewarding.
